Mauricio Salas

Costa Rican. A law graduate from the University of Costa Rica, Mauricio earned an LL.M. with an emphasis in Foreign Trade and Finance from Georgetown University and a Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management with an emphasis in Environmental Management from UNED.

  • He is partner and Head of Arbitration and Litigation at BLP law firm. He was previously an associate attorney at Facio & Cañas law firm (2001-2007).
  • In 1999, he did an internship at the WTO Appellate Body and was an international economic law researcher at Georgetown University (1998-1999).
  • Mauricio is president of AMCHAM’s International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration; he is also an active member of the International Law Commission of the Costa Rican Bar Association and the International Trade Commission of the Costa Rican Union of Private Sector Enterprises (UCCAEP).
  • A DR-CAFTA appointed arbitrator, Mauricio has authored numerous articles and publications locally and abroad.
  • He has lectured at the University of Costa Rica’s School of Law and School of Economic Sciences.

Awards:

  • He has been presented several times with the Leading Lawyer Award and was given the Rodolfo Piza Escalante Award for his contribution to the teaching of International Law.
