Carlos González

Costa Rican. A University of Costa Rica mathematics graduate with a Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of Paris VII and a Ph.D. in Databases from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France.

He is an adviser to public and private institutions and served as Director of Costa Rica’s National Scientific and Technological Research Council.

From 2004 to 2005, he was President of Nextgen S.A., a business intelligence company; he also served on the Directing Committee of the BID-Caprosoft-CONARE Software Development Project (2000-2001) and was the Costa Rican Institute of Technology’s Academic Vice-President (1999-2001).

Carlos has authored publications both nationally and abroad.

Teaching career:

  • Since 1976, Carlos has been a lecturer in Master’s and Ph.D. degree programs at the National University of Costa Rica and the Costa Rican Institute of Technology.
  • He has also lectured in Latin America and Europe. In Spain, he has lectured in the University of Alicante’s doctoral program in Applications of Informatics.

Awards:

He has received several awards and distinctions and was given the Merit Award for Informatics Research & Education by the Association of Informatics and Computing Professionals.
